Farnsworth Envelope Analysis and Retrofit Proposal

This team project focused on analyzing and proposing energy-efficient retrofits for the iconic Farnsworth House, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Working within preservation and sustainability guidelines, the project explored strategies to improve the building envelope and energy performance while maintaining the home’s historic character and architectural identity. Using Connecticut residential code standards and ResCHECK analysis, the team developed retrofit specifications, presentation drawings, and sustainable design solutions that balanced conservation, efficiency, and modern performance requirements.
